It’s safe to say that with each page JP Delaney had me saying, “Oh my gosh”.  In case you’re wondering a few pages that were big OMG moments, Page 44, 141 & 254. I honestly couldn’t keep up with all the pages that made me say OMG, it was that many. JP turns less into more.

“Please make a list of every possession you consider essential to your life.

The request seems odd, even intrusive—and for the two women who answer, the consequences are devastating.

Reeling from a traumatic break-in, Emma wants a new place to live. But none of the apartments she sees are affordable or feel safe. Until One Folgate Street. The house is an architectural masterpiece: a minimalist design of pale stone, plate glass, and soaring ceilings. But there are rules. The enigmatic architect who designed the house retains full control: no books, no throw pillows, no photos or clutter or personal effects of any kind. The space is intended to transform its occupant—and it does.

After a personal tragedy, Jane needs a fresh start. When she finds One Folgate Street she is instantly drawn to the space—and to its aloof but seductive creator. Moving in, Jane soon learns about the untimely death of the home’s previous tenant, a woman similar to Jane in age and appearance. As Jane tries to untangle truth from lies, she unwittingly follows the same patterns, makes the same choices, crosses paths with the same people, and experiences the same terror, as the girl before.”

The Girl Before is told by the two main characters, Then Emma & Now Jane. Both girls have a thing or ten in common. The biggest being One Folgate Street. The others I’ll leave you to figure out.

One Folgate Street is designed by charming architect Edward. The home designed to simplify & change lives. With this house comes a set of rules. One being no books. Who could even?!

Without Emma there would be no book. Period!

Emma is deeply troubled from the very start. Throughout the book & Emma’s POV, my mind was blown. Most of my OMG moments came from Emma.

Like Emma, Jane comes to One Folgate Street troubled, but Jane is much different. Upon discovering what happened at One Folgate Street, Jane becomes infatuated with finding out the truth. So much so, Jane leads a life much identical to the one Emma lead.

Can Jane’s fate be better than Emma’s? The answers lie in you copy of THE GIRL BEFORE.
