“Kate Daniels couldn’t be more excited to be planning her best friend’s wedding…in theory.
Lately, just thinking about gowns and centerpieces makes her want to hide under the covers with her dog and a good book –one that doesn’t include a romantic plot, thank you very much. Maybe it’s because her fiancé cheated. Or maybe it’s because he cheated with her younger sister, Charlotte. Or maybe it’s because her newfound reputation as jilted wedding planner isn’t exactly doing wonders for her career.
Charlotte knows she messed up. Big time. But she also knows something Kate doesn’t-something that might bring them close again, if her sister will ever take her calls. But as time passes and silence grows, Charlotte begins to realize she can’t hide from her problems forever, and that sometimes the only place to run is home.
With the wedding only a week away, Kate expects a few surprises. But what she doesn’t expect is to find herself believing…in the strength of family, and the possibility of finding love again.”
I can say, this book is perfect! At first I struggled with getting into the storyline but that was all my fault. Book slumps are real. After the first chapter I was hooked. Instantly I felt as though I was main character Kate. Not that I can relate with her but the effortless writing just has that effect on me.
Kate is struggling with a sister who stole her boyfriend and a boss that’s really a piece of work. All the while trying to plan a wedding for her best friend. While Kate struggles with what life has thrown her way, she still carries on with life like a champ. While planning the wedding for best friend, she finds herself befriending the best man Alec. Alec is everything Kate doesn’t want to get involved with but can she resist him?
Oh Charlotte, how could you do such a thing to your sister? While Charlotte has moved off to be with Kate’s ex she finds the grass isn’t so green, it’s actually quite dry and dead. Charlotte is trying to reach out to Kate to explain everything that’s happened since she’s moved away and to try to save their sister relationship. Secrets eventually must come out and Charlotte is busting at the seams with them.
I honestly loved Kate and this story. I feel anyone in their 20s-30s would love this book. It would also be the perfect book to give your bookworm maid of honor!!! It was an honor to be apart of “ONE WEEK TO THE WEDDING” blog tour and I look forward to many more books by Olivia Miles!!!
